Bone Grafting

Dental implants are among the most advanced and reliable ways to replace missing teeth. Successful long-term implant placement, however, requires sufficient bone of suitable quality.
Following tooth loss, periodontal disease or previous injury, the jawbone may resorb and make implant placement more difficult. Bone grafting or regenerative treatment can restore the necessary bone volume and create safer, more predictable conditions for implant placement.
Bone regeneration procedures
Tissue augmentation using PRF technology
PRF technology uses material obtained from the patient’s own blood rather than relying solely on synthetic or animal-derived grafting materials. A simple blood sample is processed in a dedicated centrifuge to create a membrane or regenerative material, which is placed before or during implant surgery. Because it is derived from the patient’s own blood, it offers excellent biological compatibility.
Bone grafting using an autogenous bone block
Where significant bone loss is present, conventional grafting may not provide sufficient volume. A block of the patient’s own bone may then be transferred from the posterior lower jaw to the deficient area and stabilised with dedicated fixation screws.
This advanced procedure is usually carried out under sedation for maximum comfort. Healing generally takes approximately four months, after which implant placement may become possible.
Bone grafting around implants
Even with a smaller bone deficiency, the entire implant surface must be adequately surrounded by bone to support long-term stability. We use biocompatible grafting material, PRF obtained from the patient’s blood, or a combination of the two. These materials support regeneration and growth of healthy bone around the implant.
Socket preservation
After a tooth is removed, the surrounding bone naturally begins to resorb. During socket preservation, grafting material is placed into the fresh extraction socket to help maintain its original shape and volume. This can preserve favourable bone height and width for future implant placement and an aesthetic, stable restoration.
Sinus lift
In the back region of the upper jaw, bone height below the maxillary sinus may be insufficient after tooth loss. A sinus lift gently elevates the sinus membrane and places grafting material into the newly created space to support new bone formation.
The procedure can often be performed at the same time as implant placement, although a two-stage approach is sometimes required. Healing usually takes six to nine months. Once healing is complete, the implants can be exposed and production of the final restoration can begin.
